Movie Making

This week in Media Studies we have been producing a movie. Our movie is about people that turn into zombies by recieving text messages. We have a great script and a lot of help, but the process of making the film is a lot more complex then we would have thought. It is taking a lot more time consumption then we thought. Also not everything is going exactly as planned. People have been not showing up to class which makes it harder to get the movie done, and some of the rooms that we decided to shoot our film in are being used so we dont always get to use the rooms we want to which makes it very frusterating on everyone.
I never would have thought that it would take so much work to make a little short clip. It didn't seem like it would be so hard at the time but everyone is getting so stressed out over it because nothing is going as planned. Now I see why actresses always turn to drugs.

Kids Shows

Has anyone noticed the selection of shows on the television lately? Not to many to pick from and the ones that there are franqly arent that good. I can't even stand to watch the tv anymore due to the little selection. I hook up my netflix and watch that or pop in a movie.
I remember when I was a kid there were soo many shows to pick from and all of them were awesome ! Like what ever happened to The Proud Family, and shows like that ! Poor kids now adays. You should see the shows my little brother has to grow up too.. not good, poor kid. I feel bad for the generations that missed out on Scooby-Doo, Recess. The Weekenders, and all of the other great shows we grew up too.
I tried to sit down and watch tv with my little brother and I cant even stand to. The shows are soo stupid ! Someones gotta come up with some more new shows or put the oldies back on ( id go with the oldies). But thats just my opinion :)

Our Role

Our role as televison consumers is not to believe everything we see one tv. The televison shows many different things, and not all are true. It is our role not to believe it all. Many people believe that what they see or hear over the media must be true sense it was broadcasted, but thats not true, ever heard of a rumor? Ya, thats exactly what a lot of it is.
Not only are we not suppose to beleieve everything we see, but we shouldn`t believe the reality of the televison. Like the way the tv is portrayed and the way the actors are portrayed, as perfect. Thats not the way life is and never will be. You have your ups and downs.
Another one of our roles is to analyze what we see, and to beleieve our own beleiefs whats what we think is true about what we have watched or heard. Follow your heart, not the media.

Acceptance

For the most part the televison puts out a dream realtiy in which we all think is real, and most of the time it isn`t. They try to portray MOST actors as beautiful without a flaw, we all know this can not be true. The televison trys to show us how they think the world should be like, but the truth is, is that it will never be like that. I accept that the actors we see on tv are extremely beautiful without a flaw and my life wont ever be that way.
The televison shows us how life should be, such as sexest comercials showing girls cooking diner, not the boys. In some cases this might be the way, but not always, there are very many males that cook as well. As well was sporting comercials and the actor always being a male. This is not reality.
The televison trys to show us that life is easy, but it isn`t. No one grieves on televison like we do in reality. Its just not the way things happen in the real world.

Disney Mold

This week in class we read an article called "Too Few Animated Women Break the Disney Mold". This article overview talked about how Disney uses its cartoon characters to be sexest or racist. They portray the females as a "typical" women, worrying about her hair, or her clothes, or being the jealous type. The women in the cartoons are featured as either old or attractive but never both. There has never been an unattractive heroine that I can recall, they are always attractive.

I never really payed close attention to this in cartoons before, but now that we read this article it draws my attention. When you look back on all the clasic cartoons all of the female character are attractice, fretful, jealous, or worried about how they look. It doesn't seem very fair if you ask me. Women shouldn't have to be portrayed in a certian way.

The article mentions that the film makers have tried to fix this over the past few years by changing the colour of they cartoons to a colour other then black white or brown to avoid racism. Although they have done this it just seems like a way to avoid the problem. I don't think cartoon characters will ever not be portrayed a certain way, not saying that it is right, I just dont think it will change.
